Here are some facts about Basking sharks!
The Basking Shark is endangered because it is hunted for its meat, fins, and liver oil.
Overfishing has caused some damage to the shark species because it might get caught more often than it should and because of shark finning because they kill a shark just for its fins.
This is an issue because it will allow the population of plankton to thrive and overpopulate.
The U.S has banned both the trade of shark fins and the act of fining in America.
We can all help by avoiding doing anything with shark fins such as fining sharks, eating any food with shark fins, and overall avoiding shark fins.
This issue is very important because we are doing no action to protect the animals that are being hunted except for making laws that the people who hunt these animals dont follow anyway. Without more help catching the people breaking the law, these animals might not last much longer. The only protection they have right now, is the vast ocean.
